Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 19, 2026

Introduction

Forkplate ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("Forkplate" or the "App").

By using Forkplate, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

Data Controller

The data controller responsible for processing your personal data is:

Rokas Anisas (individual, operating as Forkplate)
Email: info@forkplate.eu

Forkplate is operated by an individual based in the European Union. All references to "we", "our", or "us" in this policy refer to the data controller named above.

Information We Collect

Account Data (All Users)

All users must sign in via Google or Apple to use the App. Upon sign-in, we store basic account information on our servers:

  • Authentication identifier — a unique ID provided by your sign-in provider (Google or Apple). We do not store your password.
  • Display name — the name you set within the App for personalization.
  • Subscription status — your current plan tier and whether you have an active paid subscription.

This data is stored regardless of your tier and is used to authenticate your identity and manage your subscription entitlements. On the Free tier, this is the only data stored on our servers — all other content remains exclusively on your device.

Content You Create

When you use Forkplate, you may create the following content:

  • Recipe data — recipe names, descriptions, ingredients, preparation times, instructions, and photos that you add to the App.
  • Meal plan data — your meal planning selections including meal assignments and dates.
  • Ratings and reviews — ratings and review text you provide for your meals.
  • Labels and categories — custom labels you create to organize your recipes.
  • Profile information — your display name used for personalization within the App.

Crash Reports & Performance Data (Opt-In)

We use Sentry, a third-party error tracking service, to help us identify and fix technical issues in the App. This data collection is entirely opt-in — you are asked for your consent during onboarding and can change your preference at any time in Settings > System > Analytics.

If you grant consent, the following anonymous data may be sent to Sentry:

  • Crash reports and error stack traces
  • App performance metrics (sampled at 20% of transactions)
  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version and build environment

No personal data is included. We explicitly disable the collection of personally identifiable information (sendDefaultPii: false). Your recipes, meal plans, ratings, photos, and account details are never sent to Sentry. Consent is scoped per user account — if you sign in with a different account, you will be asked again.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
  • Store your recipes, meal plans, and related data locally on your device
  • Display personalized content such as cooking statistics and recipe suggestions
  • Improve and optimize the App's performance and features
  • Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs

Data Storage and Security

Forkplate is designed as an offline-first application. Your recipe data, meal plans, ratings, and other personal content are stored locally on your device using a local database (SQLite).

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data. However, please be aware that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

On the Free and Solo tiers, your content (recipes, meal plans, etc.) is stored only on your device. The Solo tier unlocks premium features but does not include cloud backup or sync. If you delete the App, clear its data, or lose your device, this content will be permanently and irrecoverably lost. On tiers with cloud sync (Solo Cloud and Family), your content is backed up to our servers and can be recovered on a new device.

Cookies and Tracking

Privacy-Friendly Analytics (Umami)

We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to understand how visitors interact with our website. Umami is designed to be GDPR compliant by default:

  • No cookies — Umami does not use cookies or store any data in your browser.
  • No personal data — no IP addresses, device fingerprints, or personally identifiable information is collected.
  • No cross-site tracking — your activity is not tracked across other websites.
  • Data collected — only anonymous, aggregated metrics such as page views, referrer URLs, browser type, and country (derived from anonymized IP).

Because Umami collects only anonymous, aggregated data and does not process any personal data, we rely on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) as the legal basis. Umami runs on every page without requiring consent.

Privacy-Friendly Analytics (Pirsch)

We use Pirsch, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service, to measure aggregate traffic on our website. Pirsch is designed to be GDPR compliant by default:

  • No cookies — Pirsch does not set cookies or store any data in your browser.

Because Pirsch collects only anonymous, aggregated data and does not process any personal data, we rely on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) as the legal basis. Pirsch runs on every page without requiring consent.

Marketing Cookies (Google Ads)

If you give consent via our cookie banner, we load Google Ads (gtag.js) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. Google Ads may set cookies in your browser, including:

  • Conversion tracking cookies — to record when you arrived at our website via a Google ad, so we can understand which ads are effective.
  • Data collected — anonymized IP address, pages visited, browser and device information, and ad interaction data.

Google Ads cookies are only loaded after you explicitly accept marketing cookies via the consent banner on our website. If you reject or dismiss the banner, no Google cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website — the consent banner will reappear on your next visit.

The legal basis for Google Ads tracking is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google processes data.

Third-Party Services

The App and website may use the following third-party services:

These third-party services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We do not sell your personal data to any third parties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you for analytical purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — all your data is stored locally on your device and is accessible through the App.
  • Delete your data — you can delete individual recipes, meal plans, or all data by uninstalling the App.
  • Opt out of crash reporting — you can disable anonymous crash reports and performance data at any time in the App under Settings > System > Analytics.
  • Withdraw cookie consent — you can withdraw your consent for marketing cookies at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children's Privacy

Forkplate is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
